Absolutely stunning and very rare Franziska Hirsh Blue Onion scalloped footed berry bowl with star shaped perforated holes for freshly washed berries. This beautiful bowl features a scalloped edge with a delicately painted blue line following the scallops. The motif is in the style of the iconic Meissen blue onion. We love the hand painted scallop on the inside rim, following the edge shape. So charming!

A bit of history:
In 1894 Franziska Hirsch founded a painting studio located in Struwestrasse 19 where porcelain was decorated in the Meissen Blue Onion style.

In 1896 the Meissen factory submitted an official complaint against Hirsch for the imitation of their patented factory mark. The complaint was upheld and Hirsch was forbidden any further use of the mark. Due to the history on record, this dates this piece precisely to 1894-1896, and very few made. A rare and beautiful find, indeed!

In pristine condition, no wear whatsoever for its age.

Measures: 9" dia x 3" h
